Alcohol and Other Drug Peer Support

Your online mentor brings lived experience, formal training in mental health and addiction, and evidence-based tools that help you navigate change in a grounded, practical way.

Book Initial Assessment

The Initial Assessment: 90 minutes | $135 + GST

The initial assessment is a longer session that gives us time to understand what is happening in your life and what you want support with. It is a calm, conversational space where you can speak openly and decide the pace.

What happens in the assessment

  • We begin with confidentiality and consent so you know how your information is handled.

  • We talk about what has been going on for you recently and what led you to reach out.

  • We explore how things are affecting your emotions, stress, sleep, routines, relationships and day-to-day life.

  • We look at physical health, housing, finances, work, study, parenting and any pressures you are carrying.

  • We discuss alcohol and other drug use, your current patterns, and what you want to change.

  • We check in on safety and mental wellbeing, including anything that feels overwhelming.

  • We explore your strengths, past resilience and the supports you already have.

  • We finish by shaping your goals for the next few months and what matters most to you.

What you walk away with

By the end of the assessment, we have a shared understanding of:

  • what you want help with

  • how peer support can help you

  • where we will start

  • what your first goals look like

This becomes the plan for your ongoing mentoring sessions.

Your Welcome Kit

You will receive a Welcome Kit in the mail 1–2 weeks after your initial assessment. It includes:

  • a laminated safety plan

  • a laminated recovery goals template

  • a laminated routine builder

  • visual tools to help with cravings and emotional overwhelm

  • a whiteboard marker and tac

These templates are used during mentoring sessions and help you stay organised, track progress and build stability week to week.

Ongoing Consultation & Support: 60 minutes | $90 + GST

Ongoing mentoring sessions give you steady support as you work toward the goals set during your initial assessment. Each session adapts to what you need that week. The space is relaxed, conversational and focused on building stability, confidence and practical change in your day-to-day life.

What sessions can look like

People often find it helpful to know what they can expect. Sessions may include:

  • Talking through what has been happening since your last session
We look at wins, challenges, triggers, cravings, stress and anything that has felt heavy or confusing.

  • Working through day-to-day life
We help you shape routines, manage energy, keep on top of appointments, organise your week and build structure that feels realistic.

  • Understanding patterns
We explore thoughts, emotions and behaviours, and use DBT and CBT-based tools to help you understand what is going on and how to respond in a calmer, more grounded way.

  • Support with cravings and overwhelm
We use your laminated visual tools from the Welcome Kit to help you manage urges, grounding, emotional build-up and decision-making in the moment.

  • Strengthening health and wellbeing
We encourage steady habits around sleep, medical care, meals, movement and stress. We talk through anything that feels physically or emotionally draining.

  • Money and life organisation
We provide general budgeting guidance (not financial advice).
This can include mapping income, bills and expenses, setting reminders, and learning simple habits that help you stay more organised.

  • Exploring alcohol and other drug use
We check in on your use patterns, what has shifted, what has felt hard, and what feels possible going forward. This includes harm-reduction support if you are not ready for big changes.

  • Building purpose and identity
We explore what matters to you, the kind of life you want, and the strengths you are rediscovering or developing.

  • Linking into extra supports
When helpful, we assist you to connect with services such as rehab / detox programs, counselling, financial / legal advice, DV support, food banks, family mediation, community groups, crisis accommodation, etc.

  • Skill-building for the future
If relevant, we help with work pathways, study ideas, or early business steps. This draws on lived experience and formal background in business development and marketing.

  • Using your Welcome Kit tools
Your laminated templates (routine builder, safety plan, recovery goals, visual aids) become part of your sessions. They help you track progress, stay organised and feel supported between appointments.
