Why we exist.
The Question That Started Everything...
“What if there was a recovery service built on lived experience that was affordable, online, and designed to look at your whole life, not just your symptoms?”
YOUR RECOVERY was founded by Paris Le Maistre, who lived with alcohol addiction for 17 years and methamphetamine dependence for 10 years. Her recovery journey taught her something crucial:
The system isn't broken because people don't care… it's broken because it was never designed for someone like you.
From Perth to Melbourne, Paris walked through door after door, and everywhere she went, she saw the same thing:
Good people. Good intentions. But gaps wide enough, that people kept falling through.
Waitlists that stretched for months while crises burned in real-time.
Price tags that made healing feel like a luxury.
Addiction treated in one room, mental health in another, as if your brain could split itself in two.
No visual tools to help people remember their strategies in moments of crisis.
To stay well, most people needed a whole multidisciplinary team just to cover the basics.
Clients reached “maintenance stage,” and were often discharged, even when they weren’t ready.
No one was asking how far behind they were on their bills.
Strict eligibility rules that shut people out until they were “sick enough” to qualify for help.
Turning That Question Into Action
Now that we knew what didn’t work in addiction and mental wellbeing services, here’s what we built instead...
Ran a beta program to make sure the platform worked for everyone… even people with limited tech access or confidence.
We use the Eight Dimensions of Wellness to look at the whole person, not just the problem.
Built a client-led model that doesn’t force abstinence. It meets people where they’re at and focuses on what they actually want to change.
Kept prices affordable, with hardship options and discounts available because help shouldn’t depend on your bank balance.
Included real, physical tools you can use every day sent straight to your door, to help you stay grounded and on track between sessions.
Made it holistic and human. Every mentor has lived experience. You’re talking to someone who’s lived it, not just studied it.
